Hello!
I am Dr. Kirstin Uncur, ND, APCC. I am a naturopathic doctor specializing in chronic fatigue, thyroid disorders, and mental health in San Diego, CA. As both an associate counselor and naturopathic doctor, I love utilizing my counseling skills in visits and truly taking a holistic approach to healthcare. I currently work at Nourish Medical Center in Sorrento Valley.
My Story
As a lover of science and helping others, I was always set on attending medical school. I spent my time during my undergraduate at Pepperdine University prepping for the rigor of conventional medical school, joining countless clubs, shadowing doctors, volunteering at hospitals and with an ambulance service, and working with a hospice. Amongst the fast-paced nature of the conventional medical system, I was captivated by the need for slowness within the hospice system. I recognized how crucial addressing quality of life was, and yet it was completely missed by our medical system. I saw the need for addressing not just the plain in sight physical symptoms, but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects.
As a girl from Texas, I had no exposure to or awareness of naturopathic medicine growing up. After doing research to find a career path that felt more in line with my perspective on what medicine could be, I stumbled across naturopathic medicine. It aligned perfectly with everything I thought a doctor could be: a healer, who worked on treating the root cause and seeing the whole person, while remaining rooted in science and clinical evidence. I spent the year after undergraduate working at a holistic rehabilitation center for adolescents and began to see the immense power of considering nutrition, exercise, counseling, spirituality, and physical medicine all in treatment. At Bastyr University, I decided to augment my mental health experience by also obtaining a master's degree in counseling psychology. Through this program, I gained extra skills and education in a variety of counseling techniques, adult mood disorders, and adolescent mental health. Throughout my education, I also received additional training in herbal medicine, nutrition, IV therapies, craniosacral therapy, neurofeedback, peptide therapy, and hormone replacement therapy.

I graduated from Bastyr University in 2023. After graduation, I joined a primary care clinic working as a primary care naturopathic doctor, and I gained exposure working with a wide variety of health conditions. I furthered my training in IV therapies, hormone replacement therapy, thyroid disorders, chronic fatigue, and complex illnesses. I joined the Nourish team in March of 2024, where I currently happily work!
